Jeff graduated from Northwestern University in 2004 with degrees in Engineering and Economics. He then earned his JD and master’s degrees in International Studies and Medical Informatics, and he also studied economics at Harvard University.

Following the acquisition of over 50 patent and trademark assets from NASDAQ-traded TranS1 after its failed merger, Jeff contributed more than 25 additional patent and trademark filings. As CEO for several years, he led TranS1 to its first cash flow positive operations and ultimately achieved an eight-figure exit.
Rocky Mountain Patent – Founder
Jeff founded the renowned patent law firm Rocky Mountain Patent, which he merged with a major national law firm in 2018 after successfully exiting a separate medical device venture. He led the growth practice for the national firm for several years before returning to solo practice with Schell IP, where he continues to lead and advise other ventures.
